NetApp (NTAP) Mentioned Positively In Barron's

February 9, 2009 10:59 AM EST
Shares of NetApp (Nasdaq: NTAP) are modestly higher this morning following a positive write-up in Barron's over the weekend. The report said while the economy is falling, demand for data-storage continues to grow.

The report said while data storage isn't recession-proof, it shouldn't see the expected 10% decline PCs could suffer in 2009. NetApp is the No. 2 storage firm behind EMC (NYSE: EMC) and its "unified" software is more efficient and offer more storage bang for the buck.

Barron's doesn't think NetApp's competitive advantage and potential growth rate are reflected in its $16 share price.

One investors, Paul Wick from Seligman Communications & Information Fund, thinks the stock could trade up to $25-$30 per share. Wick also thinks the company could be an attractive takeover target and said it could fetch as much as $30 a share in a deal.
