NY Golddiggers Hit Brick Wall Because of Economic Woes

Today, Page Six had an interesting and a sign of the times piece on the New York dating scene. The writer interviews women who talk openly about how the plunging stock market has had a negative impact on these women finding wealthy and handsome men.
Sophie sighs and sips her Pinot gris. "It's getting harder and harder to find a good man," she says. "Everyone is looking for handsome, rich and charming men but there are less and less of them to go around."
With NY banking layoffs reaching record highs, men are finding there are more women on the market and now men are becoming the choosy ones. Before all the rich bankers would be dating the attractive females, but attractive females do not like the increasing amount of unemployed bankers.
Real estate broker Sammy, a 37-year-old, "Will I knowingly date somebody who is in the sh--ter right now? Probably not." Sophie agrees, "I would never go out with someone who came up to me and said, 'I don't have a job.'"
One final note, the writer ran into a few pretty women outside a bar and this is what they had to say, "When we go out there are usually four guys buying us drinks. Now there is only one. Guys just aren't going out as much. Plus, men aren't buying bottle service so there are no tables to invite women back to."
This is not a good sign for NYC bars and expensive restaurants who depend on men taking their expensive dates to these restaurants. Perhaps, this is also a negative for cabaret company, Ricks Cabaret (Nasdaq: RICK)? It is less likely that men are going to spend their hard earned money on 2 minute dances.
This economy will continue to effect all facets of American life until somehow the psychology changes and firms' start announcing positive developments versus the continued request for government monies.
