NY Fed Issues Bank Card and Mortgage Delinquency Data
The Federal Reserve Bank of New York just released the Q208 Bank Card and Mortgage Delinquency Maps report. The data spans from June 2007 to June 2008. Some highlights were:
- 60+ day delinquency rates increased in 60% of US counties covered
- mortgage 90+ day delinquency rates increased in 74% of US counties covered
- in most counties, mortgage delinquencies worsened more rapidly than did bank card conditions
- in 71% of counties covered, mortgage delinquency rates increased more (in percentage points) than their bank card delinquency rates
- in 125 counties bank card delinquency rates doubled or more in the past 12 months, while 803 counties’ mortgage delinquency rates increased by double or more
