According to data released from NPD Group yesterday, Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) Macintosh sales could have increased unexpectedly during the month of June. If Apple confirms this data point tonight when it reports its Q3 earnings, it would mark the first month of increasing Mac sales since last November.

NPD indicated that Mac sales and units shipped jumped 6% and 16%, respectively, from the same quarter last year. While Mac sales -- in the face of a new, massively-popular iPhone -- have slipped to the back of Apple investor's minds, the Computer segment still accounted for 35% of Apple's sales last quarter. NPD said the June data suggests that Apple's Q3 Mac sales will be ahead of analyst expectations.

Apple shares are currently down about 1.6% ahead of the highly-anticipated earnings report due out after the close today. Tune into our Earnings headquarters at 4pm ET to see all the quarterly results within seconds of their release.
