According to reports from the Wall Street Journal, Microsoft's (Nasdaq: MSFT) bankers contacted Facebook to gauge the social networking company's willingness to sell.

There are no active discussions between the two and it's unclear if Facebook would sell, as an IPO of the social networking company has been speculated on.

Microsoft currently has a 1.6% stake and advertising deal with Facebook.

This weekend, Microsoft terminated its merger offer for Yahoo! (Nasdaq: YHOO) after Yahoo! rejected its raised $33/share offer and the two sides couldn't agree on a deal.

Other stocks: Google (Nasdaq: GOOG).
