Microsoft (MSFT) Surpasses 150,000 App Milestone in Windows Store

Microsoft's (Nasdaq: MSFT) Windows app store had surpassed another milestone.

At last check, the number of apps available for Windows 8 and 8.1 is at 150,086, topping the 150,000 mark. Windows 8 launched in October 2012 and the Windows app store hit the 100,000 mark last July, meaning pace has slowed, but the amount of content being submitted is still hefty.

We're sure Microsoft is taking a finer-tooth comb to Windows 8 apps given how scrutinized the operating system has become. That means user experience and design should be better overall.

Many are looking forward to Microsoft's Build conference next month, when the company is expected to make a stronger push with developers. Given how much the company has riding on its latest platform, getting more and more content should only bode well for the usability.

Shares of Microsoft are modestly higher Friday.
