Shares of Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) are 5% higher in after-hours action Thursday after the software giant reported better-than-expected Q2 results and provided upbeat guidance.
Microsoft reported Q2 EPS of $0.50, 4 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.46. Revenues for the quarter were $16.37 billion, versus the consensus of $15.95 billion. The revenue number is a record, exceeding the previous record by $2 billion.
Microsoft said sales of Windows Vista have surpassed 100 million licenses.
Microsoft expects Q3 revenues of $14.3-$14.6 billion and EPS of $0.43-$0.45, versus the Wall Street consensus of $14.43 billion and $0.44, respectively.
For the year, Microsoft expects revenues of $59.9-$60.5 billion and EPS of $1.85 to $1.88, versus the consensus of $59.36 billion and $1.81, respectively.
