Microsoft's (Nasdaq: MSFT) Surface 2 tablet with LTE connectivity will launch in Spring 2014, but not if you're a Verizon (NYSE: VZ) customer.
However, CNET pointed out Tuesday that AT&T (NYSE: T) and Vodafone (Nasdaq: VOD) customers will be able to enjoy an LTE-equipped Microsoft tablet next year.
The LTE Surface 2 will run on ARM Holdings (Nasdaq: ARMG)-based chips and there are currently no plans for a similar device to run on Intel (Nasdaq: INTC) equipment.
CNET also thinks a Surface mini might make an appearance next spring and should run on Qualcomm chips. Let's hope Microsoft doesn't run right into a lawsuit by calling it a Surface Mini and instead opts for something more energetic like "Surface Go" or something to that effect.
Shares of Microsoft are flat in late-trading Tuesday.
