Microsoft (MSFT) Sets Launch Date for Xbox One in China

September 23, 2014 7:17 AM EDT

On Monday, Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) was said to have pushed back the launch of its Xbox One in China indefinitely, but that appears to have changed today.

Reuters reports that the Xbox One will land in China on September 29th, which is just a few days beyond the original September 23rd date.

It will be the first debut of a gaming console in China in about 14 years.

The Xbox One will sell for 3,699 yuan (about $602.8) without a Kinect device and 4,299 ($700.5) with the Kinect.

In a press release, Microsoft's general manager for Xbox China, Enwei Xie, said, After receiving government approval for the first wave of games, we've decided to launch with digital copies of the first 10 games now and will continue our work to bring more blockbuster games and a broad offering of entertainment and app experiences to the platform in the months to come.

Shares of Microsoft are indicated lower in early trading Tuesday.
