Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) has created both a brilliant and incredibly annoying ad campaign.
No, there's nothing wrong with the production of the ads, just some of the content.
According to various media reports, Microsoft's new Xbox ads actually turn on the Xbox One gaming console. The current ad features Breaking Bad's
Aaron Paul. In the ad, which is embedded below, Paul calls out Xbox On,
also known as the command to actually turn the Xbox on.
This isn't the first time a Microsoft ad has caused some trouble; similar reports were made late last year after the Xbox One debuted.
It speaks to the technology in the Xbox that it's able to capture sound from an ad and treat it as an actual voice command. Still, Xbox owners wanting to enjoy a little TV versus video game playing might opt to switch off the commercial when it comes on. Not a win-win for Microsoft.
Shares of Microsoft are up 0.8 percent.
