Microsoft (MSFT) Registers Domain Tied to Potential Surface Phone

More evidence is mounting that Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) could be working on a Surface phone.

According to The Verge, citing various outlets, Microsoft may have registered the URL www.surfacephone.com. Currently, the site directs to the Microsoft Surface page.

Others have pointed out that owning domain names doesn't necessarily indicate plans; its more if an assurance that the company won't have to deal with squatters if they choose to develop a certain product. Microsoft also has surfacecar.com and surfacelaptop.com, for example.

Shares of Microsoft are down 2 percent.
