Microsoft's (Nasdaq: MSFT) Xbox One has been a pretty big hit so far, as one might expect, but sales have come despite the company missing out on one key market: China.
Re/code reported late Tuesday that Microsoft plans to release the Xbox One in China this September.
Microsoft also posted a video (embedded below) of the announcement shortly after Re/code's report.
The launch would come some 10 months following the gaming console's November 2013 debut in the U.S. and other select markets. Notably, segment peer Sony (NYSE: SNE) didn't release its PlayStation 4 (PS4) console into Japan until last February, while Microsoft has also trickled the Xbox One into different markets over a number of months.
Shares of Microsoft are down 0.5 percent.
