Microsoft (MSFT) Office Said Banned by China for Gov't Computers

Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) has had trouble with the Chinese government as of recent and today brings more negative news to the fold.

Reports Monday afternoon have China banning the usage of Office on some of its computers. Reasoning is similar to that of the Windows ban, namely that the Chines government thinks Microsoft's software is loaded with spyware for the U.S. government.

China will use domestic software instead of Microsoft's offering.

However, Microsoft said in a statement posted to Sina (Nasdaq: SINA) that everything is normal with respect to its business relationship with China's government procurement office. We're not sure if the statement, which is embedded below, is official or not.

Shares of Microsoft are down 1.2 percent.
