Microsoft (MSFT) Internet Explorer Makes Notable Share Gain in September

Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) may not be king of mobile operating systems, but the latest update to its Internet Explorer web browser is catching on.

According to StatCounter, IE added about 3 points of global market share to 28.56 percent from the end of August through end of September 2013. The number is down from 32.7 percent reported in September 2012.

Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) Chrome share saw a sequential drop from 42.78 percent down to 40.8 percent, while Mozilla Firefox fell from 19.25 percent to 18.36 percent in September. For September 2012, Chrome was at 34.21 percent while Firefox had 22.4 percent of the market.
