Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) will be making some concessions when it release Windows 8.1 later this year. Buy, you'll still be trained to use a tablet-like device.
According to Paul Thurrott's Supersite for Windows, Microsoft will be bringing back the start button with the next update. However, unlike previous Start buttons, you will be whisked away to a "Start Screen" which will use your desktop's background to keep things smoother between transitions.
The rumor of being able to boot-up to your desktop is also affirmed, skipping the Start screen altogether.
Updates like this will likely help Microsoft gain a larger user base with Windows 8, given the mixed reviews the operating system received at launch.
Shares of Microsoft are down about 0.3 percent in afternoon trading.
