Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) CEO Steve Ballmer recently gave an interview with MIT Technology Review commenting on the company's Surface tablet line.
Notably, Ballmer said, "Surface is a real business. In an environment in which there’s 350 million PCs sold, I don’t think Surface ?is going to dominate volume, but it’s a real business." The comment came following a question on whether or not he was pleased with Surface sales (which wasn't directly answered by Ballmer. We'd just that unless volume was in the tens of millions, the answer would be "no.").
He also said that he wished Microsoft's execution in getting the Surface into consumer hands was better.
Ballmer on what his vision for Microsoft is: "I would simply say we’re about defining the future of productivity, entertainment, and communication—in the new world [where] software is going to have to come in kind of an integrated form. Or at least a well-designed form that includes cloud services and devices."
