MedCath Corp. (Nasdaq: MDTH) has surged 27% today after Deutsche Bank upgraded the shares this morning to Buy, and highlighted the company's strategic value as the company pursues strategic alternatives.
The firm said their review of MDTH's portfolio suggests all of its 9 remaining hospitals have viable strategic local buyers and they think these buyers could move faster than current expectations to consummate deals.
Based on a break-up analysis of the company, the firm raised their price target from $9 to $17 and their analysis points to a valuation range between $12 and $23 per share.
On March 1, MedCath's board formed a Strategic Options Committee to consider the sale either of MedCath or the sale of its individual hospitals and other assets.
