McDonald's (MCD) Succombs Global Restaurant Count Crown to Subway

McDonald's Corp. (NYSE: MCD) shares are trading a little lower today, following data from the Wall Street Journal showing that Subway has opened more global restaurant's than the long-time American burger staple.
WSJ notes that Subway has 33,749 restaurants world-wide, compared to 32,737 for McDonald's. McDonald's disclosed their number of open restaurants in an SEC filing late last month.
A McDonald's spokesperson said that MCD is committed to their customers, focused on getting better, not just bigger. Shares are just about flat this afternoon.
