MasterCard (NYSE: MA) website was under attack today by a hackers who support WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, after the company suspended the acceptance of MasterCard's on WikiLeaks website.
The website was under a DDOS attack, or denial of service.
In a statement MasterCard confirmed they are experiencing heavy traffic on its external corporate website – MasterCard.com. The company said they are working to restore normal speed of service.
MasterCard said there is no impact whatsoever on cardholders ability to use their cards for secure transactions.
Shares of MasterCard have not been impacted by the attack so far today.
