Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) CEO Larry Page made a very valid, but teeth-clenchingly silly, comment while giving testimony during a hearing over a smartphone technology dispute with Oracle (Nasdaq: ORCL).
Page noted Google's mobile operating system behemoth Android was "very important" for the company, but not "critical."
The response came under questioning from Oracle's lawyers. Page then noted, according to Reuters, "he wouldn't be surprised if Google's board was told that Android is critical to the company." Hmm...
Page also said he's not clear on the policies of his company with respect to copying intellectual property of peers, but maintained Google was innocent of any wrongdoing, saying the company was "very careful" about information it did and did not use.
Shares of Google are off about 0.3 percent Wednesday.
