Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) is on watch Monday following reports that the highly-anticipated 5.5-inch iPhone 6 might not debut in 2014.
AppleInsider cites KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in saying that production issues might delay the launch of the larger iPhone 6 until early 2015. The 4.7-inch device is still expected to launch this year.
Two issues with the bigger iPhone 6 include manufacturing of the device's in-cell touch display and color unevenness on the device's metal casing. The analyst sees in-cell touch panels losing sensitivity near the edges with the larger device.
Should the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 launch this year, Kuo thinks it will happen in the middle of Q4, much later than Apple and market watchers were previously expecting.
Shares of Apple are positive in early trading.
