In what could turn out to be a key hire for J.C. Penney (NYSE: JCP), AdAge is reporting Debra Berman, VP-marketing and engagement at Kraft Foods Group (Nasdaq: KRFT), could be tapped as the company's new chief marketing officer (CMO).
The company has been without a permanent marketing leader since Michael Francis left 13 months ago, the report notes. As prep-work for the 2013 holiday season starts in earnest, getting someone in the CMO spot is crucial for the struggling retailer.
