J.C Penney (JCP) to Customers: We're Sorry... Please Come Back

May 1, 2013 1:09 PM EDT
In a new TV ad, J.C. Penney (NYSE: JCP) is admitting to customers that it really messed up. The company is now asking them for forgiveness and to come back.

In the TV ad, the company said:

"It's no secret. Recently, J.C. Penney changed. Some changes you liked, and some you didn't. But what matters with mistakes is what we learn. We learned a very simple thing: to listen to you. To hear what you need to make your life more beautiful. Come back to J.C. Penney. We heard you. Now, we'd love to see you."

J.C. Penney is likely referring to the failed pricing strategy of now departed CEO Ron Johnson, which was said to have alienated customers and led to a 32 percent plunge in 2012 comparable store sales.
