'Ive Just Been Knighted!'; Apple (AAPL) Exec Gets U.K. Top Honours

Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) products are known for their well design and functionality. Britain is known for its well mannered and knighted people. On Wednesday, the two met in one glorious escapade.

According to reports, Apple's Jonathan Ive is now a Knight Commander of the British Empire (KBE). He received this honor due to his "services to design and enterprise," as he played a key role in developing the iPod.

Other KBE's include Gen. George Patton, Bill Gates, Rudy Giuliani, Steven Spielberg, and the man with the tenor voice which could silence a nation: Spain's own Placido Domingo!

But more than just the iPod, Sir Ive has been integral in other 'i'-themed devices like the iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPad.

In addition to being a certified Knight, Ive was named Designer of the Year by the Design Museum London in 2003, and awarded the title Royal Designer for Industry by The Royal Society of Arts, according to the Post.

Apple shares are up 1.6 percent on the session. For a great list of other British Knights, visit the Wikipedia page.
