Is Groupon (GRPN) Taking JCPenney (JCP)-Style Pricing in 'Goods' Segment?

Just what is Groupon (Nasdaq: GRPN) trying to get away with anyway?
Pointed out earlier Monday, Groupon is aiming to sell a refurbished Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) Nexus 7 tablet for $189. The sale, being made through its Goods unit, says that the price is down 27 percent from a list of $259.99 -- quite the savings if true. The tablet was WiFi only with 16-gigabytes of storage and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
However, for just $10 more, consumers can get a new Nexus 7 tablet directly from Google. So, what gives?
Is Groupon going the route of J.C. Penney (NYSE: JCP) with a new "discounting" scheme? Or is the site aiming to compare the cost of a Nexus 7 tablet versus other retailers' prices. Maybe its the latter, but when going up against Google, its best to do research first. Heck, even $10 off of the devices is a deal.
Shares of Groupon are up 1.4 percent Monday.
