Investors Pull $74 Billion From Hedge Funds Last Month
Investors withdrew $74 billion from hedge funds just in January, according to a note from TrimTabs Investment Researcdh.
The withdrawals were actually the second highest on record, after investors withdrew $117 billion in December. TrimTabs also revealed that investors have redeemed $315.6 billion from hedge funds since September.
Redemptions and investment losses have reduced hedge-fund assets from $1.9 trillion in May to $964 billion as of January 31.
Hedge funds rose by an average of 0.3% in January, TrimTabs data show while the S&P 500 lost 8.4%.
