Intel (Nasdaq: INTC) is looking to delve further into the world of tablet computing and smartphones with the release of its next round of chips in 2014.
Digitimes said today that Intel will unveil its 14-mm Cherry Trail in Q314 and 14-mm Willow River in Q414.
For smartphones, Intel wil debut its 22-mm Merrifield SoC by the end of 2013, Moorefield in 2014, and Morganfield in Q115. Merrifield is expected to have 50 percent better performance along with a better battery life.
Intel will debut its 22-mm Bay Trail processor with Silvermont architecture in September and later release Bay Trail-T for tablet computers.
Bay Trail-T will support both Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) Windws 8.1 and Android 4.2. The platform will have two clock speed specs, at 1.8-GHz and 2.4-GHz, and also come equipped with Gen 7 GPU.
Shares of Intel are flat in early trading Wednesday.
