Immelt Says GE Can Maintain Dividend and AAA Credit Rating

Appearing on CNBC's Squawk Box, General Electric's (NYSE: GE) CEO, Jeff Immelt, told viewers that he thinks GE can maintain its $1.24 yearly dividend, while at the same time remaining AAA rated. The answer came in response to the question "Which would you rather have: a dividend cut or credit rating cut?"

The exec's comments are significant as most traders have been expecting GE to do one or the other.

Shares of GE are currently up 2.1% to $13.76 in pre-market trading.
