Icahn 'Confused' by CalPERS Comments Regarding Apple (AAPL)

December 13, 2013 2:54 PM EST
Activist investor Carl Icahn said he is quite confused by the comments coming from CalPERS earlier today regarding his intentions with Apple, Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) .

Speaking on Bloomberg TV, Icahn said he didn't understand what this has to do with the democracy of voting.

Earlier on the session, CalPERS criticized Icahn's prodding Apple to return more cash to shareholders via a larger buyback plan. The agency said, "Carl Icahn is a Johnny come lately ... We like what they’re doing. They have a significant program for returning money to shareholders .. Carl Icahn is late to the party. This debate’s already been had. I’m not sure what Carl Icahn’s proposal adds.

Shares of Apple are down about 1 percent Friday.
