Iconic radio personality Howard Stern may broadcast on Sirius XM (NASDAQ: SIRI) for the last time on December 16, unless he wants to take a pay cut to stick around.
Sirius XM CEO David Frear said that he is hopeful that Stern will stay, but hinted that any deal would be for less than the $100 million a year he receives now.
Frear also indicated that Stern may be entertaining alternative offers from companies like non other than Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL), which would add Stern to its iTunes stable.
"He could decide that he doesn't want to get up that early in the morning. That he'd like to do a shorter show. That he'd like to do it somewhere else," Frear said. "The Internet, whether it's through iTunes or something else, is always a possibility."
