Honeywell (NYSE: HON) is on watch today following reports that one of its products might be a key component in the fire aboard a Boeing (NYSE: BA) 787 last Friday at Heathrow.

Reports have U.K. regulators looking at the 787 emergency locator transmitter, which sends out a signal if the aircraft gets into distress. The part is made by Honeywell and utilizes a lithium manganese battery. The locator is positioned in the upper-rear of the 787, Reuters noted today.

Use of a lithium manganese battery might quell some investor fears after fires earlier in 2013 on several 787s were tied to lithium-ion batteries.

Honeywell said it was involved in the probe, but cautioned that it was too early to make any determinations.

Shares of Honeywell are about flat today, while Boeing is up 3 percent.
