Highlights From Microsoft (MSFT) From The Morgan Stanley Technology Conference

Today, Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) presented at the Morgan Stanley Technology Conference and below are some highlights from Microsoft's presentation.

  • Lots of headwinds. October was reasonably solid, November was a little shaky, but December was clearly a rapidly deteriorating situation.
  • Don't expect to see any major improvement at Microsoft this year.
  • Microsoft is "doubling down" on offering software-plus-services.
  • Microsoft says it is seeing no effect from Google's App products. Microsoft has approximately 500 million customers, while Google has only one million users its its apps.
  • Microsoft says its products are for more of the heavy lifting, presentations or proposals, while google apps are for short, quick assignments.
  • Microsoft's Elop said having a more "collective deal" with Yahoo! would help Microsoft's advertising model.
