H-P (HPQ) Plans 1,000+ Job Cuts in Britain

December 4, 2013 7:59 AM EST
Hewlett-Packard's (NYSE: HPQ) effort to right-size the company is still on track.

Reuters noted Wednesday that H-P is planning to cut 1,124 jobs in the U.K., which will start at the beginning of 2014. Data comes from Britain's Unite union.

Unite said managers are still outlining plans to trim positions at locations which include Warrington, Sheffield, and Bracknell.

Falling demand was a key issue behind the move, H-P was said to tell Unite.

Shares of H-P are positive in early Wednesday trading.
