Green Mountain Coffee Roasters (Nasdaq: GMCR) is seeing some interest this morning following a Reuters article highlighting the company as a takeover target.
"Green Mountain has a very strong product line, strong execution, and the growth they're seeing now would make them very attractive to consumer product companies, not just beverage companies," Piper Jaffray analyst Anthony Gikas said.
Nestle SA, McDonald's (NYSE: MCD), Coca-Cola Co (NYSE: KO) and Procter & Gamble Co (NYSE: PG) were highlighted as potential acquires of the single-serve coffee maker.
The article said the SEC revenue recognition probe, that cratered the stock at the end of September, is unlikely to be a catalyst for cheap bids.
Shares of GMCR are up 2.8 percent to $33.08.
