Gov Spitzer May Have Spent Over $80,000 On Prostitutes

The AP reported that Governor Eliot Spitzer may have spent over $80,000 on prostitutes for over 6 years. It is reported that the reason the whole investigation began because large amounts of cash were transferred from his accounts, thus alerting authorities to some sort of suspicious activity going on. The feds never envisioned that he was using the money for prostitution. After the feds figured this out, they wiretapped and read over 5,000 emails.

Allen Dershowitz is currently defending Spitzer on CNN right now. He says Spitzer just committed a misdemeanor, similar to jay-walking or speeding. [JT]

By the way, if he spent this much money with the Emperors Club, then why was the Emperors Club be so worried about receiving the deposit ahead of time? Wouldn't you think they would know he was good for it?
