Google (GOOG) Unveils Google Wallet Location-Based Payment Service

At a conference currently going on in New York City, Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) just unveiled its new Google Wallet mobile payment service.
Teaming with Citi (NYSE: C), MasterCard (NYSE: MA) and Sprint (NYSE: S) among others, Google Wallet will allow users to search location-based coupons, info and rewards and create grocery lists.
Google Wallet will support multiple cards; MasterCard has already said over 300,000 merchants will accept the application. Wherever PayPass is accepted, enabled phones will allow the use of Google Wallet.
A Google exec said the field test for the Wallet will begin Thursday and is expected to be released during summer.
Shares of Google are down 0.6 percent to $516.70 Thursday afternoon.
