Google (GOOG) Sinks As 'Strong' Q4 Results Prove Not Strong Enough

Shares of Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) are 7% lower in after-hours action Thursday after the company reported strong, but not blow-out, Q4 results.

Google reported Q4 EPS of $4.43, 2 cents lower than the analyst estimate of $4.45. Revenues for the quarter were $3.39 billion, versus the consensus of $3.45 billion. Google's GAAP revenue rose 51% to $4.83 billion.

Google-owned sites generated revenues of $3.12 billion in the fourth quarter, up 58% from last year and 14% from the third quarter.

Google's partner sites generated revenues of $1.64 billion in the fourth quarter, a 37% increase from last year and a 12% increase over the third quarter.

On its conference call, Google said social networking inventory not monetizing as well as expected. Google also said it is not seeing effect from "rumors" of a future recession.
