Google (GOOG) Sewing Seeds to Get More Social

June 28, 2011 5:33 PM EDT
Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) has introduced the public to it's new social networking site, "Google+."

The video intermingles several people doing short, kitschy monologues about how people haven't changed, human contact and interaction is best, and so on.

Images on the video highlight how "simple" and "easy" it will be to connect with friends, relatives, and others.

Ambitiously, Google also noted it intends to "fix" the "broken" online interactions of humans.

Elements of Google's social networking endeavor include:
  • +Circles - make a circle of friends;

  • +Sparks - Google will feed you information to "spark" up a conversation;

  • +Hangouts - video-chatting at its finest...with multiples!

  • +Mobile - includes features found on Flickr and FourSquare.
Google's next venture is a bit exciting. With the success of its Android OS for mobile devices, Google may have just what it takes to avert it from Buzz and other less-than-stellar social networking attempts.

Only time will tell if Google+ will be able to oust Facebook; with Facebook recently hitting the 750 million user mark, it's going to be a tough climb!

One request Google: Replace Facebook's 'Poke' with 'Boink!'
