Google (GOOG) May Settle FTC Antitrust Probe Today

Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) may resolve a nearly two-year old probe with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission over an alleged misuse of patents.
Just a few weeks back, FTC Chair Jonathan Leibowitz said he was hoping to settle the matter before the start of FY13. However, he changed his mind last week, saying the probe needed a little more time to complete.
The probe delves into whether or not Google misused patents to crush the competition in smartphone technology.
Google will make changes to the way it utilizes content from other websites, allowing advertisers to export data to other platforms.
Along with the FTC, Google has pending antitrust inquiries from the European Union that may be settled later in FY13.
Shares of Google are indicated for a lower open Thursday.
