Google (GOOG) May Have Become Mobile App Leader in 2014 (AAPL)

Google's (Nasdaq: GOOG)(Nasdaq: GOOG) mobile app numbers might have just toppled those of rival Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL).
According to appFigures, Google Play closed out 2014 with 1.43 million Android apps, versus 1.21 million for Apple's iOS operating system.
iOS saw the most robust app growth in food and drink categories, while Android's top genres were photography and games.
Data comes from about 400,000 Android developers and 280,000 iOS developers.
Also of note, Amazon's (Nasdaq: AMZN) app store saw growth of 90 percent to 293,000 apps.
