Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) is set to launch a global advertising campaign that will ask businesses around the world if they are "Going Google."
The Google strategy is an attempt by the company to continue its infiltration into the global workplace with applications that make business life cheaper and easier compared to equivalent products from Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT), IBM (NYSE: IBM) and to a lesser extent Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL).
The advantages to utilizing Google's applications in the office include not needing to implement business-wide software updates or manage email servers, as well as allowing the integration of employee documents and calendars. Business users also can take advantage of email virus and spam protection through Google Postini Services and enhanced search features.
According the official Google Blog the workplace applications have been adopted by over 2 million companies and 20 million users in more than 100 million countries around the world. The worldwide push for Google has recently attracted international customers such as Konica Minolta and TOTO.
With "Gone Google" taking on the global business world, ventures into wireless phone operating systems and the upcoming Wave email communication system, Google is making its presence felt in areas dominated by Microsoft, IBM and Apple for years.
