Google (GOOG) Finally Brings Google Play to Google TV Unit

Google, Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOG) shares are lower Monday amid the search giant announcing a broader expansion of its Google Play service.
According to the Official Google TV blog, "Google TV. Google Play Movies, TV shows, and Music will be rolling out to your Google TV over the next few weeks." Due to Google's expanding cloud capability, shows and music bought on other devices will also be available on Google TV over the next few weeks.
Google TV launched back in 2010 following a collaboration between Google, Sony (NYSE: SNE), Intel (Nasdaq: INTC), and Logitech (Nasdaq: LOGI). One of the biggest drawbacks for Google TV at launch was the lack of content, though its remote control -- which contained a full QWERTY keypad -- wasn't exactly a selling feature either.
The service rolled out into the U.K. last June, and Canada, Australia, France, Germany and Netherlands shortly thereafter.
Shares of Google are off about 1.3 percent.
