Is Google+ getting any more popular?
Facebook (Nasdaq: FB) is unquestionably the world's largest social networking site. It also hasn't appeared to lose any of its gusto over the last few years.
Looking at Google Trends, we see that Google's (Nasdaq: GOOG) Google+ social network is still very sparse. The graph below is search activity from 2004 on. It shows a slight spike in Google+ searches when the site was first launched in 2011, though people searching for the network dropped off almost immediately. We included both "Google+" and "Google Plus" just to be sure.
But, we didn't run a search for "Facebook." Instead, we ran a search for "Facebok," the misspelled version of the company's name. Unsurprisingly, more people are stil searching for a one-off version of Facebook when compared with those actually looking for Google+.
Facebook is notably higher Tuesday, while Google is just about flat.
