Google's (GOOG) YouTube Ramps Up Search for Exclusive Content

July 14, 2014 9:43 AM EDT

Google's (Nasdaq: GOOG) YouTube is in active discussions with independent producers and Hollywood studios over exclusive content.

YouTube executives have been meeting with Hollywood producers to explore the type of support it would be able to offer the content creators, according to Reuters.

One other source said YouTube is looking for content that is shorter than the 30-minute, TV-quality shows being shown on Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN) Prime and others. The site might offer anywhere from $1 to $3 million for production and may support marketing as well.

We are always exploring various content and marketing ideas to support and accelerate our creators, said YouTube in a statement.
