Shares of Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS) are trading 2.9 percent lower to $141.50 following second quarter results this morning. Top line results missed, while bottom-line results beat lowered estimates.
Goldman reported Q2 EPS of $2.75, ex-items, versus the analyst estimate of $2.08. Revenue for the quarter was $8.84 billion, which compares to the estimate of $8.99 billion. Excluding the UK bank payroll tax and settlement, Goldman would have reported EPS of $0.78.
The number traders may want to watch is $139.06 --- the closing shares price on July 14th, the day before rumors of and the actual SEC settlement was announced on July 15th.
