Goldman Sachs (GS) Trades Near Lows of Day On Fears

Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (NYSE: GS) is trading down 15% to $131, which is near the lows of the day, going into the close.

Goldman reports Q3 EPS tomorrow.

Credit default swaps on Goldman rose to an all-time high today and Goldman's senior notes fell to a record low.

Investors are worried a liquidation of Lehman will further depress like-assets that Goldman owns.

Today there was chatter the two remaining large independent investment banks, Goldman and Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS), would have to look for mergers with deposit banks.
