Glu Mobile (Nasdaq: GLUU) will debut its first skill-based, real-money game starting in June.
According to Reuters on Thursday, Glu will launch its first real-money mobile game next month. Glu recently entered a partnership with Skillz which provides technology to enable real-money earnings via cash tournaments.
Specifically, the game will be "Deer Hunter Reloaded" on Google's (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android mobile operating system. Players will pay a fee to enter tournaments, with Glu hoping to unlock a new revenue stream should it catch on.
Unlike online gambling, real-money competitions in mobile skill-based games are legal in 37 States and the District of Columbia.
Traders will be keeping an eye on Glu peer Zynga (Nasdaq: ZNGA) as more and more mobile real-money games become commonplace. Shares of Glu are flat early.
