Shares of General Motors (NYSE: GM) are getting slammed despite an overall market which is feeling less pessimistic today. The stock most recently traded at $5.98, down 13.4% from yesterday's close. GM stock began today's trading session higher, pushing over the $7 level, but quickly began moving lower on no news but heavy volume.

Notably, shares of GM were trading at $9 at the beginning of this week, marking a 33% decline in just 4 days of trading.

Investors are worried about the company's access to capital as the credit market remains tight. Recent reports suggest the company may try to sell or borrow against its Detroit Renaissance Center headquarters.
