GOP Victories in New York, Nevada Signal Imminent Change

September 14, 2011 12:59 PM EDT
Following the departure of Democrat Anthony Weiner amid a scandal which rocked his office, voters elected Republican Bob Turner to a New York House seat.

While a few districts still need to report, Turner is ahead 54 percent versus 46 percent of votes going to David Weprin. The district has been largely Democratic up until this recent special election -- for nearly 100 years in fact. Democrats make up about 57 percent of the districts voting base, the New York State Board of Elections said.

Across the country, GOP candidate Mark Amodei was elected into a Nevada House seat, given up by Dean Heller earlier in the year following allegations of (yet again) an extramarital affair.

Both elections send a clear message to the Obama administration: you've had time for change, and now another change is in order.
