Despite plenty of controversy over General Motors (NYSE: GM) publicly denouncing the merits of advertising on Facebook (Nasdaq: FB) ahead of the social media giant's IPO last May, it appears that the tides might have changed.
Reports out Tuesday night have General Motors (NYSE: GM) testing out new ad spots on Facebook's mobile platform for its Chevy Sonic subcompact car. One rep for Chevy commented in an email, "Today, Chevrolet is launching an industry-first ‘mobile-only’ pilot campaign for the Chevrolet Sonic that utilizes newly available targeting and measurement capabilities on Facebook."
General Motors said it spent $10 million on Facebook advertising in 2011, according to comments issued ahead of Facebook's May 18th IPO.
Shares of Facebook are up about 0.4 percent late.
